Local Students Win Global Wind Energy Competition

Three 7th grade girls from West Chester, Pennsylvania recently won the KidWind Project competition. This world-wide wind power competition allows any students from grades 5 through 8 to participate.

The girls, who attend Chester County Middle School, named their team the Lollipop Queens – and indeed, they walked away being the true royalty of the competition. Wind turbine submissions were judged on the following categories:

– Performance (efficiency and output of energy)
– Creativity (design and materials used)
– Quality (clear care was used when building turbine)
– Description (providing a clear description and research results)

The girls won $100 cash and the honor of being displayed in the winner’s section of the KidWind Challenge online website. Congratulations to team Lollipop Queens for your hard work and subsequent success!
