Black Powder Tavern
Formerly called Winberie’s, The Black Powder Tavern gets its name from the building that houses it – as it was once used as a secret black powder munitions hideout for the Continental Army back in 1777. The building also served as a meeting point for American leaders like George Washington and Marquis de Lafayette – to name a few. The tavern also provided food and shelter for the hungry and weary soldiers and aimed to raise their spirits.
The Black Powder Tavern continues to satisfy guests by providing superb dishes and great drinks to this day. Patrons can try delicious dishes and great beer – all served with good old fashioned hospitality – something that is sometimes hard to find these days.
